We had a book on string theory in the office and were struck by how the cover was very academic and thought it a shame it was not designed to attract the generally curious. So we made it a personal project to design an alternative cover.
Pigeons featured in an early thought experiment from which string theory emerged. The placing of the string refers to the hangman paradox, relating to a persons expectations about the timing of a future event. The cover is a digitally manipulated etching and is just generally curious….
